Local government candidate survey – Queensland

Many people have asked me over recent days about the stance of local government candidates contesting the Queensland local government elections on 19 March 2016.

I have sent a short survey to most councillors and some have responded.

If you are interested in seeing who opposes Islam, mosques, Sharia law and other such things, please click here.

You’ll also get an idea of just how many candidates do not seem to care, and those who actually want to see Islam grow in Australia.

I am not surprised at all that none of the Liberal, Labor or Green candidates for the Brisbane City Council have been prepared to express a view about mosque developments within Australia’s largest local government area.

I am also not surprised at all by the behaviour of Greens’ candidates.

Daniel Kwon is contesting Division 4 on the Gold Coast for the Greens. He initially wrote to me stating that he opposed mosques, Sharia law and funding for climate change programs. I asked him if he was serious. He stated that was his personal position. I then tweeted this to Greens Senator, Larissa Waters.

Within a few hours, I received this response from Daniel Kwon:

Hi again Bernie

Just saw your updates and what has been published. I wish not to confuse your supporters or mislead any of your followers.

I thought I should write again to make clear that I was joking in my initial responses.

I originally thought you were just asking as an individual what my position was on some issues, and hadn’t realised it was intended to be provided as information to others, so I thought I would play along for a bit and send some responses you wouldn’t expect, just as a joke.

Obviously as a Green, I strongly support action on climate change, a safe-passage for fellow human beings seeking asylum, and a non-discriminatory approach to all religions. In fact, these are among the main reasons why I joined the Greens in the first place.

Again, I honestly didn’t believe you would post my sarcastic answers, I was simply taking the piss.

With sincere apologies,

Daniel

Thanks Daniel. You’ve perfectly demonstrated exactly how much credibility the Greens have.

  1. I too agree to “safe-passage for fellow human beings seeking asylum” but I have also believe that people who bypass many safe countries, including their co-religionists’ countries and avoid UN refugee system, and have bags of money to spend on traffickers need to be sent straight back to their last legal residence.

  2. It is obvious that Bundaberg Candidate Jim Nilon’s response Highlights his 25 years as a Union rep being dictatorial and totally ignorant of the what is really happening in the world today. With that attitude I will certainly not be voting for him. It is a pity that the others didnt see fit to answer. I suppose they are all to shit scared to say anything against Islam and that is what our country has deteriorated to

  3. I was speaking with a much older Green Party member who, obviously, is an atheist. I said to him, “If Islam becomes the majority in Oz you know you atheists are #%$@!” He replied, “I know, and that’s why I am against their immigration here! Some of us have had big problems expressing this sentiment in the Party.”

Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather. I mean, his honesty!

  5. Thank you Bernard,
Interesting and sad that the majority would not even respond.

They are so completely out of touch with peoples concerns.

As for that green candidate Daniel Kwon …typical of greens, lying on such an important question.

Thanks to your survey John Abbott will be getting my vote for mayor.
