Some Spartans are more equal than others…

As a reminder, the Australian Army likes to march annually with these Spartans down Oxford Street under the warm glow of the totalitarian rainbow:

Mardi Gras spartans

But it has just banned this Spartan imagery because it is not in line with Army values:

  1. LTGEN “Care Bear” Campbell has banned any Army unit, sub-unit, platoon or section from having anything to do with Spartan helmets and related symbology.
Because Spartan-like symbolism depicted within Army confines is apparently VERY BAD.
However, Campbell also permits – indeed enthusiastically encourages – all ADF members to attend the annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, in uniform.
That would be the annual political event where there are plenty of participants strutting their fabulous, glittering stuff, dressed up as Spartans and Roman Legionnaires and Gladiators etc.
Because – apparently – Spartan-like symbolism depicted within Mardi Gras confines is VERY GOOD.
Can’t have it both ways, mate.
    What’s it to be?
One of them has to go!
Lest you be seen by the entire ADF to be a flipping hypocrite.
And we wouldn’t want that – would we?
